Transport Controller - Luton

We are recruiting for an experienced and confident Transport Controller to join the busy transport team based at out Luton depot. This role is essential to ensure smooth running of this busy team and is a very demanding role requiring someone with brilliant attention to detail and an ability to multi task.

You will be assigned a team of drivers and you will be responsible for:

 

Looking after the day-to-day workloads for designated drivers and checking stock availability for vehicles

Check jobs are being completed on drivers PDA and de-brief the drivers daily.

Spot check internal systems to ensure protocols and procedures are followed

Ensuring any problem jobs have photos attached for audit trail

Managing holidays for all drivers

Overseeing wheel torque register

Making drivers aware of any vehicles services/MOT and booking external services for relevant lorries

Regular lorry downloads for designated vehicles

 

This is a very busy role which requires you to be able to multi task and work well under pressure. You will have a calm and professional approach and you will be able to liaise effectively with other departments to ensure work is completed and customers are satisfied.

 

Hours of work are 7am to 5pm with on call rotation on Saturday mornings (1 in 4)

 

You will be confident on Word, Excel and Outlook, together with a professional telephone manner. We will provide technical training, but we are ideally looking for someone with knowledge of the waste industry.  Experience of working within a transport/operations/logistics/planning/office management role is essential.
