Cawleys is a third-generation family business with over 70 years’ experience in the waste management industry and is one of the leading, independently owned recycling companies in the UK.  Current turnover exceeds £36.8m and the company employs 243 staff across four sites, operating a mixed fleet of 80 waste collection vehicles.

 

Cawleys does not own or manage landfill sites preferring to invest in waste recovery and processing technologies. The company pioneered the use of anaerobic digestion (AD) for commercial food waste in 2008, opening a state of the art Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in the same year.

 

Cawleys is a strong, diverse resource management organisation offering a wide range of bespoke, innovative waste and recycling services. These include food waste recycling, award winning environmental change management programmes through our associate company, Veris Strategies and our specialist hazardous waste services division. We are accredited by Investors in people. The company’s administrative and operational HQ is based in Luton with further sites in Milton Keynes and Wellingborough.

 

Role Purpose

       To sell the full range of Cawleys waste services and products

 

       To contact existing customers, previous customers and potential new customers directly by telephone, or by email, to make sales through detailed qualification of their specific requirements and needs.

 

       To handle incoming Sales prospect enquiries, through various marketing sources, such as Web, Web Chat, E-mail and Telephone

 

       To collect, verify and update customer details / information on our CRM database, collating the required information to record our activities and aid us in future marketing

 

       To work with the National Sales Manager, to ensure we are offering the right type of service to the right customer, through a series of specific qualification questions, such as site location, type of business and type of waste created

 

       To assist the Sales Team and the business overall achieve its targets and budgets

 

KPI’s

       Achieve daily outbound calls and contact targets 

       Identifying decision makers and updating relevant customer details

       Achieve monthly sales objectives and targets

       Achieve sales conversion targets

       Achieve minimum standards of timed response and reaction to incoming enquiries

       Achieve minimum value and profitability targets

 

 

Key Responsibilities

       To qualify and identify opportunities, through inbound and outbound conversations with potential new customers and opportunities

       To develop creative pitches and propositions aimed at specific industry sectors

       To proactively follow up leads   

       Use of initiative to identify and follow up opportunities with businesses who are not already on the database or who are previous customers of Cawleys

       Updating customer information on the existing database

       To gather, input and manage the database to a high degree of accuracy to ensure targeted marketing activity can take place to generate new business 

       To work closely with the marketing team to achieve sales objectives 

       To negotiate commercial terms and prices within clear set guidelines and objectives 

       To attend regular sales meetings to report on activity and discuss relevant issues and contribute to the discussions around the team performance 

       To liaise effectively with departments within Cawleys to ensure customer requirements are met 

 

Knowledge, training, experience, technical and personal skills

 

       At least 1-2 years working within a sales environment preferably in a proactive telemarketing or field sales role within the environmental/waste (or related) industry

       Intermediate IT skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint

       Excellent telephone skills

       High degree of accuracy

       Demonstrated ability to prioritise issues

       Organisational and time management skills

       Good at information seeking and handling

       Able to manage multiple tasks

       Excellent customer service and oral/written communication skills.

       Well-presented personal appearance

       Polite, friendly and confident telephone manner

       Strong attention to detail

       Flexible, driven, positive and a proactive attitude

       Ability to work on your own and self-manage wisely to the benefit of the company, whilst being a team player 

       Has a ‘can do’ attitude both internal and external

       Ability to think quickly, problem solve and make decisions.
