Luton Rugby Club kick starts recycling

We are delighted to announce a new recycling and waste management partnership between Cawleys and Luton Rugby Football Club.

Spectators are flocking back to sporting events and this means that waste levels are returning to normal levels - perfect for us to collect and recycle! The club also hosts weddings and conferences and, as celebrations and gatherings of this type resume, this new relationship  means that the waste generated at these events will also be recycled.

Cawleys is one of the few privately owned enterprises running its own Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) and we have long been at the forefront of the recycling industry. Use of the MRF will ensure that all general waste generated by the rugby club will be sorted and segregated to extract as many recyclables as possible. We will help the club maximise its recycling rates by collecting segregated card and plastics, as well as glass, using its specialist food and glass recycling lorry.

As a fellow local business based in Luton, we are extremely proud to working with the local sporting venue and are thrilled to play an instrumental role in helping the rugby club well on the way to meeting its environmental goals.

Commenting on the development, Anna Cawley, Head of Customer Services said: “It’s great to add another local sporting institution to our list of clients. With sporting and event attendance levels getting back to pre-pandemic levels, waste reduction and recycling is more important than ever. It’s vital that organisations keep up the good work that was done before the lockdowns and maintain momentum to work towards a carbon neutral and more environmentally friendly future. Our relationship with Luton Rugby Club is one that we truly value and we’re delighted to have been chosen as their recycling partner”.
