Celebrations are in order as we are proud to announce that Cawleys has been confirmed as the winner of a prestigious Bronze Green Apple Award at a celebratory ceremony held at London’s Horse Guards Hotel.
This is a fantastic achievement for us and was won on the back of our tireless investment into ensuring a sustainable solution for local business waste. Our outstanding materials recycling facility was a central focus highlighting its capabilities relating to the sorting and segregation of all types of waste to ensure maximum recycling rates.
Other complimentary initiatives contributing to the award, included our partnership with Vegware for compostable packaging recycling, our involvement in the nationwide coffee cup recycling scheme, food waste for anaerobic digestion and our partnership with Biobean, an initiative designed to convert coffee grounds into fuel logs.
In addition our own eco-friendly strategies contributed to the award including fuel efficient vehicles, an office made entirely from recycled cardboard and green energy tariffs.
Winning such a high-profile award pays homage to the outstanding inroads we have made in sustainability since the company was founded more than 70 years ago.
Commenting on the Green Apple Award win, Anna Cawley, Customer Services Director said: “It was an honour and privilege to attend the Green Apple Award ceremony which celebrated eco achievements, not only by companies based here in the UK, but also internationally. It was a celebration of the great and good of corporate environmental awareness and winning projects spanned the full sustainability spectrum. We are delighted that Cawleys has been recognised in this way and we are determined to build further on our environmental achievements in the months and years ahead.”
