Anaerobic Digestion

In 2006 we established a logistics partnership with Biogengreenfinch, leaders in the field of Anaerobic Digestion (AD) and renewable energy.

Through our partnership with Biogengreenfinch, we have pioneered our Food Recycling Round which is the first dedicated commercial food waste collection service to AD. To read more about this unique partnership to help promote food waste recycling click here.

It offers a zero waste to landfill solution by taking food waste to the Biogengreenfinch biogas plants with a collection network covering from the Midlands through to London to suit operational needs, six days a week. This service helps any food waste producer to save money on expensive landfill and incinerator costs, improve their carbon footprint, and demonstrate their impeccable green credentials to customers.

By Processing the waste through AD when compared to landfill, you are preventing the emissions of 905kg of carbon per tonne of food waste being emitted to atmosphere.

What is AD?

Anaerobic Digestion (AD) is a natural biological process using naturally occurring micro-organisms to break down organic matter into a valuable fertiliser whilst producing biogas. A combined heat and power (CHP) engine is used to convert the biogas into electricity and heat. By processing the waste through AD when compared to landfill, we are preventing the emissions of 905kg of carbon per tonne of food waste being emitted to the atmosphere.

A unique service

Our distinctive fleet of food recycling vehicles run on bio-fuel, and are affectionately known as CHLOEs (Cawleys Helping Life on Earth).
