Compactors
For larger waste volumes, Cawleys can offer advice on waste compaction systems designed to reduce waste disposal costs, improve waste handling and capacity.
With a comprehensive range of new and refurbished portable and static machinery, we can supply the ideal solution for your company, regardless of industry sector.
Compactors provide:
- Increased payload in the container
- Reduced transport and disposal costs
- Improves the environment by providing a fully enclosed disposal system
Compactors are designed to handle medium to high volumes of industrial and commercial waste quickly and efficiently. Specified to suit your needs, loading can be by hand, bin lift, forklift, chute or special application.
In order for onsite compacting to provide a return on investment an organisation would need to be producing a regular average output of approximately 50 cubic yards per week.
Compaction static unit
A static compactor, which can be provided in a range of sizes, is bolted to a suitable concrete base. The system can be tailored to suit exact customer requirements.
The system works by:
- Waste is loaded into the hopper of the machine
- The ram within the machine travels forward, compacting waste into the container, then returns ready for more waste to be fed in
- A pre-full warning light will illuminate to enable us to be notified for collection
- The skip or Roll-on Roll-off vehicle will uncouple the container and take it to be emptied
Stage 1: Compactor charge box loaded from top
Stage 2: Cylinder extends and platen crushes waste into container
Stage 3: Cylinder and platen retract awaiting next loads
Compaction portable unit
The principle is similar to that of the static compactor but the compactor and container are built as one integral unit which is not secured to the base. When full we pick up the whole unit, take it for emptying, then return it to site. Portable compaction is particularly suitable when space is limited or when the waste product is wet.
A portable unit can be collected by different transport vehicles dependent on the space available:
- 14 cubic yard handled by skip lorry
- 32 cubic yard handled by Roll-on Roll-off vehicle
Hotels and Food Processors tend to opt for Portable units
Stage 1: Compactor charge box loaded
Stage 2: Cylinder extends and platen crushes waste into container
Stage 3: Cylinder and platen retract awaiting next loads
