Glass
Glass is collected by Cawleys and taken to a glass reprocessing site where it is crushed and recycled into construction and building materials, such as a new road.
Glass can also be turned into more glass products; once it is crushed it is mixed with the raw materials and melted in a furnace. The melted material is moulded or blown into new bottles or jars.
The UK business sector still has a lot of work to do to recycle glass – bars, restaurants and pubs currently throw away 600,000 tonnes of glass every year, so it is important that you are using a responsible waste management company (like Cawleys) to process your waste and ensure that it is being properly recycled rather than disposed of in landfill.
