Shocking new battery regulations Boost their green credentials
From September 26th 2008 it is expected that we will need to think, treat and dispose of our batteries in a more environmentally friendly light which is no bad thing!
A new regulation, which is currently being set out, will be enforced on this date to target battery waste in an effort to eliminate the 30,000 tonnes of general waste batteries currently going to landfill. It is expected that the majority of these batteries will be generated from domestic consumers; however, businesses will also be expected to manage their battery wastes. At Cawleys we already have services for the collection of Hazardous battery types and this will not change. However, the Battery regulations will be targeting single use batteries as well so if you need to talk over your requirements so that you can be compliant please call Jason or Alan in our Hazardous Waste Department on 0845 260 2000 where we can ensure that this regulation is not a shock for you!
